If Newspapers Die, Can Democracy Survive?

City Club Friday Forum Friday, April 17

Leading newspapers — from The New York Times to the Seattle Post Intelligencer — have experienced massive debt and continuing financial losses. America’s newspapers have traditionally set the “news agenda” followed by the rest of the media. When newspapers fold or go online only, and professional journalists lose their jobs, this impacts the quality and veracity of information Americans receive about their government, economy and communities. American democracy itself, which depends upon a knowledgeable and informed citizenry, may be at stake.

Join us with questions, concerns and eager ears. No registration required.
