Q & A

One on one help with Raiser's Edge really helps

This is more of an "answer" than a "question" but it seemed right for the Q&A section. I just wanted to share my experience in hopes it may help someone else. We converted to Raiser's Edge in June 2006. As the fundraising database "go to" staff person, I took a week-long, in-person training and a lot of online training to get up to speed with this complicated program. I learned a lot and was mostly able to produce what I needed from the database, but sometimes things took me longer than I thought they should and I often did not feel 100 percent confident that the output from my queries, exports, and mailings were exactly as we wanted them to be.

Volunteering

Go play outside AND take a kid with you! - MEN NEEDED!

It’s that time of year when we all want to go outside and play and enjoy everything Portland has to offer.  Have you ever thought about taking a youth with you?  Now is a great time to learn about becoming a mentor with Mentor Portland.

Next Tuesday, May 6thth from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mentor Portland will be hosting an Info Session for you to learn about mentoring.  The Info Session will take place at Boys and Girls Aid.  To find directions to our office, go to http://www.boysandgirlsaid.org/about_us/location.html.

Weekly food box packer needed!

Weekly food box packer needed at Sunshine Division, an emergency food relief nonprofit organization in unique partnership with the Police Bureau. Sunshine Division has been around since 1923 and provides more than 750 tons of emergency food to local families and individuals in need each year.

Due to the strained economic times, Sunshine Division has seen a major rise in the number of families and individuals seeking food relief. In February of 2008 we gave out 115% more emergency food than in February of 2007.

We are currently looking for a volunteer to come in Fridays for approximately 2-3 hours on a weekly basis to pack emergency food boxes. Times on Fridays can be flexible, but must be between 8am and 4pm.
