Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition Social Gathering- May 6

Greetings! Please join the Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition for a free social gathering in honor of World AIDS Orphans Day on May 6 from 6 to 8 pm at Buffalo Gap (6835 SW Macadam Ave, Portland 97219). All are welcome including children; bring your friends, family and appetite! This is the PAGAC's first networking and social gathering. This gathering is being organized in response to requests from people active in organizations addressing HIV/AIDS and other international development issues for opportunities to meet and exchange ideas. There will be no formal program, just meeting and sharing. We hope you will join us!

In less than 12 months, 240 nonprofit organizations registered with DonorsResource.org and 7,007 donations have been claimed. Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good (MACG) Lead Organizer

The Lead Organizer of MACG is responsible for overseeing efforts in carrying out the work plan of the organization as described in the Governance Document. This entails:

• Developing and maintaining relationships with heads of current and potential member institutions

• Finding and developing new leaders in the member organizations, and among other groups in the Metropolitan Area who are not yet involved

• Training these leaders through relational meetings, group actions and evaluations, and both the introductory Leadership Training for Public Life and Advanced Institutes

• Working with the executive team, county cluster chairs, core team leaders, and action team leaders to move stories into action

Job Opening: Returning Veterans Project (RVP) Executive Director

Position Title: Executive Director

Status: Regular, full time, exempt position

Starting Salary: $40,000 to $46,000, DOE We hope to provide health insurance in the near future.

Returning Veterans Project (RVP) provides free counseling and other health services to military personnel returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to their family members and survivors. RVP was founded in 2005 because we believed it was our collective responsibility to offer education, support, and healing for the short and long-term repercussions of military operations and combat on veterans and their families.

Free Parenting Classes Fulfill Court Mandated Requirements

Make parenting a pleasure! A series of six, 90 minute workshops for parents to share their own knowledge and expertise will meet on the second floor of the Julia West House, at 522 SW 13th Street in Portland. This six week class will meet on Mondays, May 4- June 15, 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. This class fulfills court mandated requirements.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required, call today to reserve your spot! Parents without custody are encouraged to attend this class.

New funny show, volunteer opportunities

The Nomadic Theatre Co is proud to present the new one-woman show by Sarah Liane Foster, The Last Show You'll Ever See, a clown show about the end of the world. The show opens May 15 and runs for two weekends (5/15-5/17 & 5/22-5/24) at Curious Comedy in NE Portland. More information is below. We can't wait to see you there!

To get the show rolling, we need some trusty volunteers over the next week (April 25-30) to help distribute postcards and posters to friends and businesses in your neighborhood. No Ivy Day

vy Day

An annual event throughout Portland's natural areas sponsored by Portland Parks and Recreation and the No Ivy League.

Help the Friends of Tryon Creek State Park cut tree ivy on No Ivy Day on May 2nd from 9 to Noon. When ivy climbs trees, it not only flowers and spreads its seeds but the weight of the ivy can knock over those trees, destroying entire tracts of forest. Come help us stop this invader of the woods!
