JANUS YOUTH PROGRAMS, INC. has the following positions available. Janus is a nonprofit agency providing community-based services, including residential and shelter care, to youth referred by OYA and/or DHS, as well as homeless and street-dependent  youth. We operate facilities in Oregon and in SW Washington. The Ronald McDonald House® is hiring a Resident Manager. If you are a person who loves being part of committed team, has a "can do" attitude, and enjoys interaction with people of diverse social backgrounds, we would love to hear from you!

The Resident Manager is responsible for the continuation of family services, maintaining the cleanliness and order of the House, and ensuring the safety and security of residents within the House during evening and nighttime hours.  This individual lives on site in an apartment (Apartment Use Agreement required) located on the campus of Legacy Emanuel and is required to be on site at all times during each shift.

Swine Flu identified in Multnomah County - FREE Training Information

Child Care Development Service in collaboration with Linfield College of Nursing developed an on-line training for child care providers. This 52 page study material, which has been updated for the current flu strain, is currently available on our website to the public for free. This training can be viewed at: www.childcaretrainingtogo.com.

Just click on Pandemic Flu to link to the study material. I hope you take the time to view this and get this information out to the public. It will save people much time as there are many resources and links in this study.

Volunteering

SOLV's Down By The Riverside, Saturday, May 16th

Oregon’s waterways and natural areas are the envy of the nation but they need our help to stay that way. Join SOLV and roughly 15,000 volunteers across Oregon on Saturday, May 16th, from 9 am to 1 pm for Down By The Riverside. This event is made up of over 350 projects throughout the state. At this fun volunteer event community members will explore their personal impact on local watersheds, work to restore Oregon, and meet new people.

Spanish Immersion Celebration Event needs volunteers

The SUN Community School at Lents is in need of volunteers to help with their Spanish Immersion Celebration event on May 8, 2009. The purpose of this event is to share the work and accomplishments of the program with the entire school and local community. Volunteers are needed to help with special cultural booths that will include artisan crafts such as maracas, Guatemalan plates, and Amazon masks. This is a great opportunity to celebrate Latin American culture and encourage community participation in Lents’s Spanish Immersion program.

Willamette River Cleanup in Portland's Front Yard at Cathedral Park

Be a part of the 2nd Annual Willamette River Cleanup on Saturday, May 16th from 9 am to 1pm. Portlanders will be volunteering all along the river from the Sellwood Bridge to Swan Island as we keep the city’s front yard clean. We will be picking up trash along the riverbanks from Sellwood Bridge to Swan Island accessing all areas on foot or by boat and delivering the collected trash to barges with dumpsters. Be a part of this exciting cleanup by starting at the Cathedral Park check-in point.
