The Oregon Hunger Task Force is compiling and updating a resource list of community partners and volunteers who want to lend their knowledge energy and creativity to Summer Food Programs happening in the Tri-county (Portland, Clackamas, Washington) area this year.

PAGAC event for World AIDS Orphans Day TONIGHT! All are welcome!

Please join the Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition for a free social gathering in honor of World AIDS Orphans Day on May 6 from 6 to 8 pm at Buffalo Gap (6835 SW Macadam Ave, Portland 97219).

All are welcome including children; bring your friends, family and appetite! This is the PAGAC's first networking and social gathering. This gathering is being organized in response to requests from people active in organizations addressing HIV/AIDS and other international development issues for opportunities to meet and exchange ideas. There will be no formal program, just meeting and sharing. We hope you will join us!

TEACH A FUN FITNESS PROGRAM TO OLDER ADULTS!

Loaves & Fishes is currently seeking individuals interested in becoming a volunteer instructor a few hours a week teaching an evidence based fitness program to older adults. The classes are held a few times a week at one of our sites and consist of around 5-15 participants. The program consists of light cardio, strength training, stretching, and balance exercises. We would provide the one day training to you free of cost. Ideally, we would like individuals who have interest and/or experience in working with older adults, a health/fitness related field, and most importantly believe in our vision. Also, we are looking for someone who can commit to volunteering for an allotted amount of time.

Sewing for Children

 

A Volunteer opportunity sponsored by Hands On Greater Portland and Peninsula Children’s Center.

 

Sewing and socializing with a purpose! That’s right, we will do what we love and make new friends while supporting the children and teachers at Peninsula Children’s Center. Join a small group of sewing enthusiasts as we create soft dolls for the children and smocks for the teachers in the infant and toddler rooms.

Patterns, fabric and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your sewing machine and thread. Donations of washable cotton for the smocks (minimum size 2 1/2 yards) and bias tape are welcome.
