What: Healing movie Series - "Three Seasons"

When: Sunday, May 10, 7 pm (arrive by 6:50)

Second Sunday (monthly) movie series presented by Meyer Counseling (www.meyercounseling.com). Movies are followed by a 30-ish minute discussion related to emotional/mental/spiritual/relational health and tea and snacks are provided. DVPA Workshop: Managing and Marketing Volunteer Programs--June 4!

The Directors of Volunteer Programs Association (DVPA) would like to invite you to our upcoming workshop, Managing and Marketing Your Volunteer Program in a New Economy, on Thursday, June 4th from 12:30pm to 5:00pm.

The workshop will include a plenary session with a nationally known presenter on: volunteer assessment, policy violations, volunteer contracts, defensible process and volunteer dismissal.  Attendees will leave with resources and a better understanding of a necessary evil: risk management. Each participant will attend a session on Effective Electronic Outreach and Creating a Strong Marketing Campaign.  The workshop is a great opportunity to network while learning new skills to effectively and efficiently improve your volunteer program!

Community Cycling Center and the Russell Street Bar-B-Que team up to celebrate community at the Bikes 'n' BBQ Bash on June 27th, 11am-2pm.

You’re invited to join us this Saturday, when the Community Cycling Center and the Russell Street Bar-B-Que will join forces to promote a healthy community by combining their two favorite things: bicycles and barbecue. Add a dash of live music, free bike repair, valet bike parking, bike photography, and a bunch of neighbors and the result will be unforgettable.

Free! Wetlands 101 Workshop, May 16

Curious about your local wetlands and the creatures that live in them?  Come to Wetlands 101, a free workshop, to learn about these disappearing habitats in the greater Portland area.  Learn about wetland mitigation, wetland functions, and threatened animals who rely on wetlands to survive, like Western Painted Turtles and Red-Legged Frogs.  This hands-on workshop includes field visits to two wetlands in Gresham. Offered free by the Columbia Slough Watershed Council; required pre-registration is available online at www.columbiaslough.org.

Medicinal Plant Walks!

Here are the May offerings from the Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies. Classes are all sliding-scale for non-profit workers, low-income folks, and others to enjoy the benefits of healking herbs. Hope to see you soon!

Neighborhood Plant Walk with Missy Rohs Tuesday, May 12th, 7pm-8:30pm Portland neighborhoods are brimming with amazing medicinal plants! Join us for a stroll as we encounter flowering garden herbs and sidewalk-crack plants that can help us stay healthy. Plantain, Rose, and Lemon balm are sure to make an appearance, as will many, many others. We’ll meet rain or shine. All ages and walking speeds welcome! Meet at Awakenings (1016 SE 12th Ave., just south of Belmont) Cost: $5-$15, sliding scale.
