Movies and Meaning Group "Food, Inc."

"The next time you admire a plump checken breast, consider how it got that way. The egg-to-death life of a chicken is now six weeks. They're grown in cages too small for them to move, in perpetual darkness to make them sleep more and quarrel less. They're fattened so fast they can't stand up or walk. Their entire lives, they are trapped in the dark, worrying."

Transitioning to a Resilient Portland

Transitioning to a Resilient PortlandSeptember 25th and 26thHosted by Transition PDXWe face an uncertain future.  The climate is warming, the economy is on life support, and fuel and other resources will likely get scarcer and more expensive.  We have a choice.  We can run full tilt over the cliff – or we can build on work started by many organizations to create a resilient Portland, able to withstand the shocks of the impending changes.  Along the way we can create stronger communities and more satisfying lives based on sharing and cooperation.  The biologist Rupert Sheldrake put it like this: there is a future that wants to happen and that requires us to create it.  The Transition Initiative in Portl

Q & A

A resource for donation bins?

One of our business partners wants to conduct a coat drive for our students with their employees and we are on the hunt for two appropriately sized bins to collect the donations. Does anyone know where we might be able to find something of this nature? (I am considering trying Metro as one possibility.)

Thanks all!
