The Oregon Symposium for Entrepreneurial Nonprofits (OSEN) is a three-day course for organizations interested in starting earned income ventures and learning new business skills. The third annual Symposium is scheduled for June 18-20 in Eugene. Participants receive classroom instruction on the tools necessary to start a social enterprise, such as writing business plans, developing accurate financial projections, and understanding legal issues. Participants will also have a chance to tour successful social enterprises, and network and build relationships with others interested in starting similar business ventures.

Cycle the Well Field!

Join the Portland Water Bureau and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for a bicycle tour through Portland's Groundwater Protection Area located in the Columbia Slough Watershed. Portland Water Bureau Groundwater Specialist Randy Albright will lead the ride. We'll make several stops to learn the mysteries of groundwater and how to protect this important groundwater resource. The ride: 16 miles over relatively flat terrain, at a slow/moderate pace. FREE. For ages 12 and up. Bring your bike, helmet, water and lunch. Dress for the weather. Youth Milieu Counselors at De Paul Treatment Centers

De Paul serves the greater Portland community by providing drug and alcohol addiction treatment services. We are currently seeking on-call Milieu Counselors to work at our Youth Alcohol and Drug treatment facility for swing and graveyard shifts. Responsibilities include monitoring the behavior of our clients and intervening as appropriate, and assisting with day-to-day activities. Duties also include transporting clients, so applicants must possess an unrestricted driver’s license and be willing to drive a 15 passenger van. Knowledge of A&D, physiology or recovery preferred. Volunteer Coordinator of Member Services

Outreach in Burnside is looking for a volunteer to work with us consistently as Coordinator of Member Services. This person would ideally volunteer with us from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm on weekdays with the members of Outreach in Burnside. The organization has served the disabled poor of Portland since 1982, and provides key services including money management. The coordinator's role would include distributing daily or weekly allowances to members, making prescription medications available to members, and tracking medical and mental health appointments.

Hospice Volunteer Opportunities

Signature Hospice invites you to join our team to support patients and families in your Portland community. Our volunteer training will prepare you to provide the companionship and support so many patients and families need when faced with a terminal illness. It may be that you walk with someone in a garden at their home or care facility. It may be that you hear stories of a lifetime of relationships and adventure, or listen to current worries and concerns. Hospice is about quality of life. Your compassionate and loving presence is all that is required to make a tremendous difference in someone's life. Our next volunteer training is June 7th & 8th.

Volunteer at Lunchtime in NW Portland

A Loaves & Fishes Senior Lunch is held each weekday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church at NW 19th & Irving.  This program only works because local volunteers provide the people power to make it happen.  Any and all assistance is greatly needed and truly appreciated!  Thank you for your consideration.

Loaves & Fishes Server Positions:  One Set-Up Volunteer is needed weekdays from 10 am - Noon to help with lunch set-up and serving.  Two Kitchen Crew Volunteers are also needed from 11 am- 1 pm.  These folks will serve and then do kitchen clean up and dishes.
