You’ll see firsthand how Metro-area gardeners are using native plants and environmentally-friendly gardening techniques to create beautiful landscaping that conserves water, take less maintenance, controls erosion, and provides habitat. The tour is self-drive/bike/walk/bus, drop-in style, Sunday, June 1, 2008, 1:00-4:30pm. Go to www.naturescape.org to register for the tour. There is no charge and all are welcome to sign up.

In 2007, volunteers and staff worked together to install check dams in three tributaries of Tryon Creek utilizing living plant material. The goal of these dams is to improve fish habitat by slowing water flows and reducing source sediment contributions. Come join us to learn about this restoration technique and how to implement a similar project in your own urban stream system.
