Film Screening: 10 Tactics for Turning Information Into Action

10 Tactics shows how rights advocates around the world have used the internet and digital technologies to create positive change using original and artful ways to capture attention and communicate a cause. The 50 minute film (released by Tactical Tech in Decembefr 09)will be shown at the Center for Intercultural Organizing, and will be followed by a panel discussing the film and info-activism. This is the place to do some sewing, collage, painting or something else! We have a huge assortment of arts supplies and tools just waiting to inspire you.  All ages welcome. $5-$25 per person, clay, materials, and firings included. Trade opportunities available.Second Sunday Sewing! 3-5 pm every 2nd SundayLooking for something warm and cozy to do on February 14th? Bring a sewing project or make a sock monkey! These little guys are so fun and full of unconditional love, but watch out it might be addicting.  $5-$25 includes materials, tea and vegan truffles. Trades possible.

General Description of Duties: To work in conjunction with Xploregon Program Director to plan and implement a series of 4 road trip programs for teenagers 14-17 years of age. Based out of Portland’s Camp Fire USA office and its campsite Camp Namanu, Xploregon is a 12 day youth leadership road trip that travels across Oregon following an itinerary of youth led volunteer projects, outdoor activities and leadership opportunities. Four trips will be running through July and August this year, and each trip will have 14 teens and 4 staff and will travel to 8 communities or roughly 900miles. Please see work schedule below.

Work Schedule: 24 hours a week March 1st – June 1st then full-time June-August

Salary / Pay Rate:Compensation: $14 an hour (March-June), $90-$100 DOE per field day (July-Sept)

Mercy Corps Northwest volunteer Michael Hanna, a TV news reporter for network affiliated TV stations including KATU Portland, and a media sales manager for 11 years, will talk about customer focused sales for business owners who focus on sales of professional services and products. He’ll apply special emphasis to "active" listening and the skills involved in uncovering unmet needs and meeting those needs with a customer focused presentation and product offering.
