The University of Portland Moreau Center for Service and Leadership encourages student leadership through service with a number of alternative break, service-learning trips across the country and internationally.

Individuals and organizations interested in learning more about service-learning programs and supporting students' devleopment of global citizenship are cordially invited to the Moreau Center's first annual Benefit Brunch. With a little planning and some added frost protection, it’s very easy to grow a wide variety of fresh greens year round. Join us for this fun class and learn how to grow your own salad and stir fry mixes, and discover new varieties of tasty hardy greens. Urban Renewal Area Town Hall 1 - Community Truth-Telling

Come hear panelists share perspectives on how inner North/Northeast Urban Renewal Areas have impacted neighborhoods. Then share your own perspective on the history of Urban Renewal Areas. This is the first in a series of community-based public forums designed to to educate and engage community members regarding pending decisions about significant Urban Renewal Area (URA) investments that will change the built environment of inner North and Northeast neighborhoods. All feedback will be incorporated into a final report given to the Portland Development Commission.

TLC Farm Seeking Bids for Sustainability Program Administration

Tryon Life Community Farm is seeking experienced program administrators (individuals or organizations) to bid on a contract to facilitate its summer multi-week residential adult programs.

The programs are a two-week Permaculture Design Certification Course in June and a three-week Community Sustainability Immersion Program in August.  For more program details, see tryonfarm.org and click on "summer programs".

Connecting Across Cultural Differences Workshop

Friday, February 26, 2010 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Portland Building, 2nd floor, Room B, 1120 SW 5th

This interactive workshop will explore cultural dynamics around communication and conflict that are sometimes hidden and uncomfortable to surface and discuss. Workshop leaders will help us understand how our different experiences of oppression and privilege impact us in intercultural interactions and will help us develop and practice skills to engage effectively across ethnic, gender, and other differences.

Registration Costs $45 for students and community dispute resolution center staff and volunteers $85 for Non-profit staff and volunteers $165 all others
