Veganic Gardening Discussion

Join Jill Schatz, a past president of the Hardy Plant Society, and Peter Spendelow, Ph.D., an environmental expert, for an informative discussion on February 21 about the benefits of veganic gardening and how you can get started in your own backyard.

What is veganic gardening? It is gardening without the use of manure and slaughterhouse byproducts. More commonly practiced in Europe and Canada, veganic gardening is now gaining popularity in the United States because of public concern over e-Coli contamination, mad cow disease, etc.

Help a senior move into their new place.

REACH Community Development is seeking 2-4 able bodied volunteers to help residents unpack and put away belongings after moving into their new units. There will be at least 2 volunteers working together at a time, with staff in the building. Scheduling is flexible, and the need is immediate.

Get some hands-on experience by directly helping somebody in need. Many residents who live at Walnut Park are seniors, and some live with disabilities. They would benefit greatly from a few hours of your time. You can make time go faster by bringing a friend to join in!
