Volunteering

SOLV Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup, Mar 20

Be part of an Oregon tradition and volunteer for the SOLV Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup on Saturday, March 20th from 10 am to 1 pm. Every year, thousands of volunteers comb the coast for trash and debris that has washed up on our coastline during the winter storms to keep our beaches clean and protect Oregon’s coastal ecosystems. There are 45 check-in locations all along the coast from the California border to the Columbia River. We will provide bags and gloves, all you need to bring is a good rain coat and the desire to help our oceans!

3/12, Spruce Swamp Invasive Species Removal Day

Come out Friday, March 12 from 10 AM to 3 PM to remove invasive species from the Columbia Land Trust’s Crooked Creek. The property is located near Rosburg, WA on Gray’s Bay and acts as salmon rearing grounds as well as habitat for waterfoul, river otters, elk, seals, and birds of prey. Crooked Creek is unique because it is inter-tidal spruce swamp, the habitat type that is being lost faster than any other in the Northwest. We’ll be removing invasive holly, laurel, and ivy to make way for a replanting and restoration of the spruce.

The property is also great for kayaking and canoers and kayakers are encouraged to come and get some paddling time in.
