Scope of Position: Friendly House is a neighborhood center and social service agency located in Northwest Portland. This is a 40 hour per week position assisting case managers by providing in-home support, problem solving, and advocacy for elders in the NW Portland, downtown, and North Portland areas. African Parent Educator

LANGUAGE: Bilingual English and an African Language APPLY AT: www.irco.org

DUTIES: Provide parent education and family assessments to families with children 0-5 years old. Contact communities regarding African Parent Child Development Program. Contact families to explain the PCDS program, its goals and services. Coordinate services and activities to meet the special needs of families through personal home visits, parent group meetings, developmental screenings, and referral services to health and dental care and other support services. Develop culturally-appropriate parenting education activities. Provide role-modeling to parents. Work in a multi-cultural environment to provide services that meet IRCO’s goals and objectives.

Do you love thrift stores? Do you love clothes? Are you organized and tidy??

Sunshine Division needs your to help with our FREE clothing store!! Sunshine Division is an emergency food and clothing nonprofit organization in unique partnership with the Portland Police Bureau. We have recently re-opened our clothing store to our clients and are looking for fun, outgoing and dedicated volunteers to help run our clothing store.

We need 1 volunteer for each of the following ongoing weekly shifts:

Tuesdays from 12:30-4pm

Thursdays from 12:30-4 and 4-6:30pm

Fridays from 8:30-12pm

Sunday Parkways is a day of car-free streets, where 6 miles of North Portland roads will be closed so that the community can bike, run, skate and celebrate the outdoors together. The Community Cycling Center is hosting a bike activity center at Peninsula Park and we need your help in staffing these different activities. Our bike activities include. Free demonstrations (fix a flat, safety checks)Basic bike education for children and adultsFree mechanic repair and safety checks for kids' bikesInformation about the CCC and our programs, shop and volunteer opportunities.

Do you think nature is only found outside of the city? Think again! Enjoy your Saturday morning working outside to restore our urban forest and meeting others in our community.

Join Three Rivers Land Conservancy and the Friends of Terwilliger to remove invasive species and restore the natural area along Terwilliger Parkway.

Saturday, June 14th from 9am – 12noon
