Interns needed for Exciting New Theatre Arts Peace Camp

BroadArts Theatre is looking for interns for its second annual Peace Camp. BroadArts celebrates women and minorities and is dedicated to making the world more equal, peaceful, compassionate and just.

BroadArts Theatre is conducting two one-week peace camps, August 4-8, 11-15. We are looking for fun, responsible and caring interns who love working with children. Interns will be part of a team of teachers and will have the opportunity to learn about clowning, acting, improvisation, directing and visual communication, while also working closely with children ages 7-14. Interns are paid $100 per week. Hours are 8:30 - 3:00 pm

Hello!  We wanted to invite you to come and join us for some wonderful new yoga classes.  Quest Center is a non-profit wellness center, providing services, community, and education to everyone, including low-income, at-risk people seeking a wellness-focused approach to living and dying.  We work to assist our clients to sustain lifestyle changes that support healing, and to effectively strengthen those diagnosed with chronic or life-challenging illnesses, including HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, chemical dependency, and cancer.  Our services are open to all.

AmeriCorps Resource Conservation Outreach Position

This position will assist Beaverton School District staff and students with their efforts to conserve resources, increase recycling, become an Oregon Green Schools certified school, and develop conservation programs unique to each school community.

Activities will include site observation reports, waste audits, disposal cost tracking, staff and student presentations, and assisting the Conservation Specialist.

AmeriCorps Positions at the Oregon Health Career Center

The Oregon Health Career Center been granted the opportunity to host two AmeriCorps members at its office starting this September! These positions are the A.K.A. Science Program Coordinator and the Health Careers Program Coordinator.

The A.K.A. Science Program Coordinator will lead hands on, inquiry-based after school classes for elementary and middle school students in our program and help us expand the program to more low-income students in the Portland area. The Program Coordinator will also recruit and train volunteers to build the kits that accompany our curriculum and lead A.K.A. Science classes.

Teen Girl Support Group--Space needed, 1 hr. weekly

I am having trouble finding a free space in Southeast Portland to hold a teen girls support group during the months of July and August. If anyone has a confidential space available for use for one hour once a week (big enough for two facilitators and no more than ten girls), please contact me at the email below. The group is for teen girls ages 14-18 who have experienced domestic/dating violence or sexual assault. Please also feel free to refer teens to me or to give them my information for self-referral.

Sunshine Pantry in Beaverton Seeks Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers with a big heart and a warm smile to help others in need. We are a very friendly food pantry working to make a difference in these very hard times. You need to have a smile to give and a big heart to serve these families.

Volunteers unload food deliveries, sort donations, stock shelves, clean, and assist "clients" in selecting their food boxes. Additional volunteers support holiday projects and donation pick-ups.

Reach the Bridge - VOLUNTEER!

Be a part of Portland's only reverse-timed race! Runners and walkers leave as early as they want, or as late as they dare, but their challenge is to reach the Burnside bridge before it goes up at 9am-SHARP!

Reach the Bridge is an opportunity to honor lung cancer survivors and pay special tribute to those lost to the disease. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Lung Association of Oregon and help fund the research that makes an impact on this devastating disease.

We still need course marshals to make the event a success! On the morning of the event, you'll get a free t-shirt, thorough training, and strong cup of coffee to get you going!
