Announcing the: Faith in Action Network of Oregon 1 Day Fall Conference

Hosted by Northwest Portland Ministries: Member of the state wide network and provider of transportation, nutrition, recreation & helping hands in NW and downtown Portland.

The conference is for interfaith volunteer programs that serve seniors interested partners and individuals.

The Faith in Action Fall 2010 Conference topics will be: Fundraising & Engaging Volunteers.It will be at Saint Patric's Church, 1623 NW 19th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97209. September 27th from 8:30 AM-4:00 PM

position summary:

Purpose: To enhance culturally competent financial education and counseling services offered by the Community Housing Resource Center to underserved minority community members in SW Washington.

Supervisor: Executive Director

Major Responsibilities: • Perform community outreach to spread the word to under-served low- and moderate-income communities about the availability of financial education and counseling services at the Center. • Recruit and support professional financial services volunteers who will help teach financial education in both English and additional languages. • Assist financial counselors and volunteer instructors with appropriate translation services. • Represent the Center on the Clark County Asset Building Coalition.

Salary / Pay Rate:This is a ten month, full-time service position through the Washington State Service Corps. Volunteer will receive a stipend and an education award upon successful completion of service. The applicant cannot have had more than one prior term of volunteer service with an education award. Health benefits and training opportunities provided. Childcare available if eligible.

HAYLO, Helping a Youth Leap Onward *

 

Are you able and willing to donate your time and skills? Do you like to have fun? Would you be interested in welcoming immigrants into our community? Would you like to learn about a new culture? Learn a new language? Would you like to be a mentor?

 

Come share, build, and practice your skills by volunteering your time with us!

 

We are looking for mentors who are willing to help East African, Burmese, Eastern European and Hispanic youth. Mentors will spend one and a half hours a week helping with homework and English, talking about school, life, and the youth’s future.
