What is the buzz all about? Learn more about Honeybees, Backyard Beekeeping, and what they tell us about the health of the environment.

 

Date: Saturday, September 18th Time: 11AM -4PM Zenger Farm: 11741 SE Foster Road. Portland, Oregon 97266 Free!

 

Tour the Honeybee hives at Zenger Farm with local backyard beekeepers. Every hour starting at 11:30AM

 

Local Backyard Beekeepers will be extracting honey in the Farm House...come on in and check out this sticky task. (You might even get talked into a little work.)

 

Honey, wax, and hive needs? Bring your cash and check out our Bee Market! (New this year!)

 

Fun activities geared for kids: 1PM -3PM in the Children's Garden.

The Information and Assistance Specialist is responsible for providing Information and Assistance to older residents in Downtown Portland in accordance with Multnomah County Aging Services Division Standards. Minimum required qualifications include High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or higher preferred in social services, gerontology, counseling or related field. 1 to 2 years relevant experience, preferably working with the elderly. Ability to communicate with clients, families, service providers, community members and co-workers, both orally and in writing. Basic skill in web-based resource search and data entry required. Must have knowledge of resources available to seniors in Multnomah County.

Easter Seals Oregon's ARTability Project!

ARTability - Creativity Without Limits

 

Easter Seals Oregon is offering a free art class for special needs clients.

 

The goal of the ARTability Project is to create opportunity for participants to express themselves in new and creative ways through art. Each class will be led by professional artist and designer, Theresa Provitola, along with a group of volunteer art assistants. The artists will have an opportunity to choose from several projects ranging from collage work, painting, beading, sculpting to anything else the artist can create!

 

Artist can decide what sounds good to them and best matches their interest and abilities; often times one may find those ABILITIES are far beyond what they originally thought.

FREE Green Jobs and Construction Career Training for Women

Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc. trains women to enter into high skill, high wage careers in construction through our seven-week Trades and Apprenticeship Career Class.

 

Please help us get the word out about our FREE program so even more women can get started into satisfying, living wage careers and take advantage of green jobs training!

 

-- Class meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

 

-- Participants get hands-on experience working alongside skilled female instructors.

 

-- Explore topics like safety, construction culture, apprenticeship, and more.

The Sierra Club and Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good are proud to join Americans across the country who are volunteering on September 11th, a National Day of Service in honor and remembrance of those who bravely serve our country.

 

In honor of this day the Oregon Sierra Club and MACG wish to make a significant contribution to an important local effort on energy efficiency, equity, and community building.

 

Please join us for a Changing the Climate in Cully Neighborhood Walk!

 

We’ll go door to door to promote a city initiative, Clean Energy Works, which helps residents fund energy efficiency improvements to their home and provides worker training for low-income people and communities of color.
