Help a Kid See – Portland Public School Vision Screener Training

Sixty percent of youth with learning problems have undiagnosed vision problems. Many children act out in class because they’re bored or think they just can’t read. Since 2008, 3,750 Portland Public Schools’ elementary students have received vision, hearing, and dental screenings through the ViDA program. Priority is given to schools serving a high number of low-income students.

We are in high need of people like you to become volunteer vision screeners! The training takes place THIS THURSDAY, September 30th from 5:00 – 6:30pm and is mandatory for all screeners (there are, however, other volunteer positions, such as pointer, student helper, line management, and coordination, that do not require this training).
