Boys & Girls Aid Drop-in counseling - July 9th

Do you have a client facing an unintended pregnancy? Does she know she has options? Boys & Girls Aid is hosting weekly drop-in counseling sessions, facilitated by a pregnancy counselor, to encourage open discussion about pregnancy options. All options discussion is welcome, and personal viewpoints are always respected. Our next session will be on Wednesday July 9th from 6-7 pm at Boys & Girls Aid (018 SW Boundary Court, Portland, OR 97239).

Great Classical Music with Summer Sings!

Spend two evenings this summer making beautiful choral music with the Portland Symphonic Choir. Join us for the 2008 Summer Sings to be held in air-conditioned comfort at the PCC Cascade Campus on N. Killingsworth at Albina St. Admission $7. Start time 7pm. Wednesday, July 16 come and sing Verdi's majestic and passionate Requiem. On July 23 join us in singing the lyrical and lovely Requiem by Gabriel Faure. Sheet music will be provided for you to borrow for the evening. NO REHEARSAL NECESSARY!!  FREE PARKING! Hot Pink Salsa Dance!! A Benefit for Code Pink Portland

Saturday, July 19th 7 PM Liberty Hall, 311 N. Ivy

CODEPINK Portland is having a salsa dance fund raiser. Dance lessons, professional performances, a raffle with prizes. Refreshments and tamales, yuuuummm!

$5 - $15 sliding scale with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Come have some fun and help Code Pink raise money to continue the fight for peace and justice.

Job Posting: Loaves and Fishes Senior Meal Program Center Director, Tigar

Center Director for senior meal program in Tigard, OR.  40 hours per week (some evenings and weekends required.

Responsible to manage the day to day operation of the center, including the preparation and serving of Meals-on-Wheels and Senior Dining meals and all classes and activities that take place in the senior center. 

Qualifications:

1.        Associate Degree or two years work experience or education in Human Resources, Psychology, Gerontology, Management, Social Work, Community Nutrition, or other related field. One year of experience in a management position.

2.       2. Ability to work in a team environment and work  under own initiative with minimum supervision.

Youth Workshop Opportunity: Moving Images Summer Workshop

OLLIE Presents Moving Images Youth Media Workshops for Summer 2008

The Moving Images Summer Youth Program is an intensive video arts and production program that focuses on creative personal storytelling and exposure to exemplary works of video/film art.

Moving Images is offered to young people ages 14-18 throughout the Portland metropolitan area. Students will create their own video project describing a Personal Journey.

There is no cost to participate! Please help us spread the word about this unique opportunity.

Volunteering

July 12- Buckman area neighborhood cleanup

To Shine One Corner of the World: A day of neighborhood cleanup, sponsored by Dharma Rain Zen Center.

This will be a simple event of cleaning the neighborhood around the Portland Dharma Center, home to Dharma Rain Zen Center, Portland Sakya Center, and the Heart of Wisdom branch of the Zen Community of Oregon. Mostly picking up trash and sorting it into compost, recycling, burnables and such as appropriate.

Help Cure Cancer while being apart of Hood to Coast!! The American Cancer Society needs volunteers to help with their event booths along the race August 22nd & 23rd in Portland, Timberline and Seaside! Come join the action and receive an awesome T-shirt, snacks and volunteer hours!
