IRCO Engage Diversity and Civic Leadership Graduation Event
When the Mayor of Portland said, "Welcome to your building, welcome to your house", a city hall filled to the brim quieted in surprise. Then, the Mayor pointed to the commissioners' chairs and said: "Go try them out, one day you will be sitting in one of them."
IRCO's Engage Training is a Diversity & Civic Leadership Training for Asian, African, Pacific Islander and Slavic/Russian-Speaking community-based leaders. In its second year, IRCO's Engage will graduate over 25 participants who have completed a rigorous 4 month series of workshops, skill-building, networking and personal reflection activities designed to prepare them for civic engagement. Our communities are growing, and we are already leading. IRCO's Engage Training brings our communities together and provides effective and culturally specific leadership development, particularly for the immigrant and refugee communities of Portland.
