RIDESHARE DRIVER (PART-TIME) Lents International Farmers Market, Portland, Oregon

Job Description The Lents International Farmers' Market is seeking a part-time, van driver to provide transportation to and from the market on Sundays from June 14, 2009 through October 25, 2009.

Background: The goal of the Lents International Farmers' Market (LIFM) is to improve access to locally grown, culturally appropriate, healthful foods for the residents of Portland's Lents neighborhood and surrounding area. This season at LIFM an innovative new RideShare program is being introduced to help expand the market's reach to the diverse communities in outer southeast Portland. LIFM will be providing free transportation to the market from three to four locations in the Lents and Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhoods as an endeavor to help meet the needs of seniors and other residents who do not have access to transportation for traveling to and from the market.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Pick up and drop off van from Ride Connection. 2. Drive circuits to pick up and drop off LIFM customers during market hours. 3. Operate van equipment to assist elderly and disabled. 4. Complete Ride Connection defensive driving training and vehicle familiarization session. 5. Perform other duties related to these programs as required.

Desired Qualifications: • Experience driving a passenger van. • Knowledge of outer southeast Portland neighborhoods and street systems. • Strong communication skills, friendly, outgoing, personable, etc.

Essential Qualifications: • Must complete Ride Connection defensive driving training and receive certificate. • Clean driving record. • Valid OR state driver's license. • Must be able to attend every market on Sunday from June 14 – October 25, 2009 from 8:30a.m. to 2:30p.m.

Desirables: • Bilingual; • Southeast resident.

Compensation: 7-8 hours/week for duration of the market season (20 weeks) and driver training class time. $9-11 dollars/hour.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR (PART-TIME) Lents International Farmers' Market, Portland, Oregon

Job Description: The Lents International Farmers’ Market is seeking a part-time, temporary Program Coordinator to manage the Healthy Rewards and Transportation RideShare Program during the 2009 market season.

Background: The Lents International Farmers’ Market (LIFM) The goal of the Lents International Farmers’ Market is to improve access to locally grown, culturally appropriate, healthful foods for the residents of Portland’s Lents neighborhood and surrounding area. This season at LIFM, two innovative programs are being introduced to help expand the market’s reach to the diverse communities in outer southeast Portland. To better meet the needs of low-income shoppers at the market, the Healthy Rewards program will offer a dollar-to-dollar match up to $5 dollars for SNAP (food stamp) dollars spent at the market. LIFM will also be providing free transportation to the market from three locations in the Lents and Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhoods through the RideShare Program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Manage the Healthy Rewards Program at the market by ensuring that SNAP (food stamp) clients understand how the program works. 2. Staff the EBT/Debit table and run all card transactions. 3. Help administer surveys and evaluate the Healthy Rewards Program during three evaluation days at the market with market partners and steering committee. 4. Undergo training for EBT sales and match tracking requirements of USDA. 5. Serve as point person for RideShare driver at the market. 6. Promote and provide outreach on Healthy Rewards and RideShare program to hunger relief partners. 7. Attend monthly steering committee meetings and provide updates on Healthy Rewards and RideShare programs. 8. Perform other duties related to these programs as required.

Qualifications: •Experience managing people/volunteers •Experience in outreach and promotion •Must be able to attend every market on Sunday from June 14 – October 25, 2009 from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m.

Essentials: •High School graduate •Eligible for employment in the United States •Ability to travel to and from market site

Desirables: •Strong communication skills •Bilingual •College degree •Lents area resident

Compensation: 6-8 hours/week for duration of the market season (20 weeks) $10 - $12/hr depending on experience
