20th Anniversary of Tiananmen event on June 6th

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 1989 crackdown on pro-democracy protests at Tiananmen Square in China. The local Portland group of Amnesty International will commemorate the anniversary with an event on Saturday June 6th.

20th Anniversary of Tiananmen: The Ensuing Struggle for the Right to Freedom of Expression

Amnesty International Group 48 will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown with a presentation of the documentary, “The Tank Man”. Before and after the film, Portland State University Political Science Professor, Bruce Gilley will provide expert analysis on the crackdown and the ensuing struggle for freedom of expression and human rights.
