position summary:

Community Solutions for Clackamas County is looking to hire one Food Prep Skills Trainer to be used by the Working For Independence (WFI) program to provide oversight and supervision of all food preparation as well as coffee/food service training to WFI clients.

The Food Prep Skills Trainer is responsible for providing quality training and direction to WFI clients acting as barista/food prep trainees. Clients may assist with basic food preparation and customer services. The Food Prep Skills Trainer will also be responsible to assist the Food Services Coordinator with maintaining all product management including inventories and proper storage/organization of all supplies and equipment. Assistance with each clients' evaluation process will be expected on an "as needed" basis.

The selected applicant for this position MUST be able to take and pass a drug test and a background check.

The schedule is Mon-Thurs, 6:00am-11:30am

Salary / Pay Rate:$10.63-$11.13/hr
Required Skills and Abilities:Experience: principles and techniques of food handling, preparation, cooking, and storage; safely operate and oversee commercial kitchen operations. Knowledge of: training/working with clients with mental and/or physical disabilities; sanitation methods for food preparation and serving areas; basic math, including fractions; occupational hazards and safety precautions of coffee/food service industry. Skill to: train and assist WFI clients in kitchen/food preparation activities; prepare and handle coffee/espresso/food in an appropriate, sanitary manner to maintain appealing and nutritious food/drink contents; Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; safely operate, clean, and service kitchen equipment and utensils; understand and follow oral and written instructions including menus and recipes; comply with health and food handling standards; follow and adjust recipes to obtain required quantities; evaluate food qualities such as freshness, cleanliness, and proper cooking; communicate effectively; assist with maintaining organized, accurate records and paperwork; effectively and efficiently plan ahead both short and long term; problem solve in crisis situations; work well under pressures of coffee/food services.
Qualifications:Duties require considerable standing, upper body movement, bending and lifting. This position is assigned to work with WFI clients who may exhibit developmental disabilities, mental disabilities, and/or antisocial behaviors. Within thirty (30) days of hire: Food Handlers Certification Must be willing to work on a Monday through Thursday schedule. Must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug test to be considered for hire. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession of the required experience, knowledge, and skills.
