JOB SUMMARY - Web Manager

Life by Design NW [LbDNW] is a community collaborative organization that is the Go-To Resource for Life-Planning for individuals 50+. The LbDNW website is the main portal for sharing information, resources, tools and news with the greater community and holds an important role in the organization’s ability to meet its mission. The Web Manager is responsible for the overall content development and management of the website. This includes independently sourcing (researching, collecting, data checking and filtering) content, images, resources, tools, and articles and content contributed by the LbDNW Executive Director, key staff members, program partners, Leadership Advisory Council members and the public. The Web Manager will be responsible for tracking and interpreting SEO usage and other site metrics as required. The Web Manager will play a large role in creating an online community through social media outlets, working with volunteers and building connected relationships within the community.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES

50% Website content maintenance – updating content on the website including featured articles, resources, tools, events, etc. using a content management system (CMS). Filtering information for quality, not quantity. Making recommendations for new content and fact checking content that is submitted.

20% Creating an online community – through social media tools (such as LinkedIn and Facebook). Working with volunteers to assign jobs and tasks related to writing articles, finding resources, and identifying tools for the web site. Frequent interaction with 50+ highly skilled volunteers.

30% Website tracking and recommendations – interpreting and analyzing Google Analytics reports to make recommendations for the site. Identify and make recommendations on ways to monetize the site in the future.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Work with Executive Director and Leadership Advisory Committee website team to develop and implement web strategy.

2.Develop and maintain a tactical plan which meets the organization’s web strategy, mission and objectives.

3.Manage website content and images, including: •Write content and make recommendations for new content. This may include the use of new media such as video, webinars, etc. •Maintain and review existing website content to keep the site up-to-date, accurate and relevant. •Coordinate web content assignments with various authors, including volunteer writers and LbDNW partners. •Review and edit content as needed to maximize SEO user friendliness and web navigation. •Manage links with other sites, ensuring that links are up-to-date and function properly. •Develop and maintain an image library. •Post content using the site’s Content Management System, Drupal.

4.Keep LbDNW’s social media sites active, including LinkedIn and Facebook and suggest new strategies for social media outreach.

5.Provide monthly web activity/tracking reports with analysis and interpretation.

6.Answer e-mails or phone calls directed to the Web Manager.

7.Manage search engine marketing activities.

8.Get timely resolution for technical problems.

9.Manage relationship with website hosting vendor.

10.Recommend site enhancements.

11.Identify, recommend and help implement strategies to monetize the site.

12.Develop, execute, and analyze email campaigns, including the e-newsletter.

13.Document website and email campaign procedures.

14.Train staff and volunteers in the use of web tools and social media.

15.Represent LbDNW at organization events as needed and prepare presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Position Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree in related field -Direct experience as a content administrator for a CMS-driven web site, preferably Drupal -Proficiency using websites and web applications, Adobe Photoshop, FTP -Some experience with PHP programming, copy editing, HTML coding/code -Strong organizational skills -Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail -Ability to work well in a diverse team environment

Preferred Position Qualifications: -Experience interpreting, tracking and reporting site metrics with Google Analytics -Experience implementing and managing AdSense and affiliate programs -Some graphic design experience -Some experience with CRM and email applications, preferably salesforce.com and Vertical Response respectively -Knowledge and understanding of the needs and challenges of the 50+ demographic -Willingness and desire to attend training to keep current on internet trends and website professional development
