Field Coordinator Opening (Staff Position) with Oregon State Service Corps

The American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter is hiring a Field Coordinator to support the Oregon State Service Corps (OSSC), a statewide individual placement AmeriCorps program. This position is based out of Portland and will act as a lead in the area of AmeriCorps member development and support for OSSC.  Some of the responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement member development plan for the program’s fifty-one members.

• Coordinate, prepare and facilitate member orientation and quarterly member regional trainings.

• Ensure that OSSC members receive required program trainings, including disaster response training.

• Foster an esprit de corps among the OSSC AmeriCorps members and promote a positive service experience for members.

• Keep strong lines of communication between program and members, and members with each other (phone calls, emails, meetings, site visits, questionnaires).

• Ensure Enrollment and Exit Paperwork for members is complete; review timesheets, monthly reports.

• Assist with other areas of program administration, including creation of the program grant and budget.

• Assist with site recruitment and selection process (including the reading and rating of site proposals).

• Implement an AmeriCorps member recruitment and enrollment plan.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with teaching and/or training. Current and valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Experience with AmeriCorps, VISTA or similar program strongly preferred.

Cultural Competency: Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures. Demonstrates awareness of own cultural views and attitudes of difference in cultures and is able to facilitate partnerships, communicate both internally and externally and conduct service delivery cross-culturally.
