Program Assistant for Fast-Growing National Nonprofit

Gateway to College National Network is a fast-growing education nonprofit organization that opens schools around the country. Currently in 14 states, the National Network is replicating the Gateway to College model with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wal-Mart Foundation. Since 2003 the Network has raised $16 million to reconnect high school dropouts with meaningful education. The Network now includes 24 partner programs working with over 100 school districts. We are currently seeking a full-time Program Assistant to provide administrative support to all areas of the organization.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting Finance Director with basic accounting entries and spreadsheet calculations • Scheduling meetings and maintaining calendar for Executive Director • Assisting Executive Director with general administrative tasks • Assisting with event planning coordination (including board and committee meetings, development meetings, etc.) • Creating and maintaining an effective document management system • Providing assistance as needed to the staff and Board of Directors, including scheduling meetings, arranging travel, and preparing materials • Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned • Maintaining office equipment and performing general office operation functions • Providing backup for reception area

Requirements/qualifications: • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred; plus two to four years of successful administrative experience • Experience in creating spreadsheets • Computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database software • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Customer-service oriented with a strong attention to detail • Flexibility to multitask, often with short notice • Ability to prioritize and work cooperatively in a fast-paced and diverse team environment • Occasional overnight travel required

Salary: This full-time (40 hours per week) position offers a starting salary of $28,000 – $34,000, depending on experience, and also includes a comprehensive benefits package.
