Americorps VISTA Development and Special Initiatives Coordinator
National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is dedicated to the well-being of American Indian children and families.
Position: VISTA Donor Relations Coordinator
Location: NICWA, 5100 SW Macadam Avenue, Suite 300, Portland, OR 97239
The VISTA donor relations coordinator will assess, develop, and implement three new development activities aimed at increasing individual donor revenue to enhance NICWA's capacity to deliver core services to American Indian children and families. The donor relations coordinator will work with development staff to create innovative ways of communicating with donors, develop and implement policies and procedures that protect the integrity of donor information, and utilize a creative process for developing unique and innovative marketing materials for new and potential donors. The donor relations coordinator will also work with NICWA's development manager and Executive Department staff to contribute ideas and effort to the organization's annual fundraising strategy, research and identify funding sources, and write grants/funding applications.
Responsibilites: To learn about NICWA's history and its emergence from the passage of the Indian Child Welfare Act.
Develop, monitor, and evaluate a communication strategy for NICWA donors.
Identify and leverage resources on behalf of NICWA to support development activities. Solicit donations--cash, value in-kind--for NICWA.
Coordinate communication distribution with executive communications manager and development staff.
Coordinate and oversee development of marketing materials for new and potential donors.
Create polices and procedures to maintain integrity of donor information in donor management software.
Attend CBVC/AmeriCorps*VISTA sponsored orientation, trainings, meetings, and disaster response courses.
Qualifications: Knowledge and/or interest in American Indian issues.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
An independent, self-motivated, creative, and resourceful individual with a commitment to NICWA's mission.
Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and complex schedules.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required--(please attach a writing sample)**.
Some travel required (paid for by NICWA). Fundraising/grant writing experiences a plus. Comfortable with computers, proficient with Windows Office Suite and database programs (Access, Raiser's Edge).
