Advocacy Coordinator

Full-Time, Exempt

Scope of Position: Provides staff support to the Elders in Action 31 volunteer member Commission. Coordinates the engagement of volunteers in advising the City of Portland, Multnomah County, and Multnomah County Aging and Disability Services, Maintains liaison relationships with public officials, elders within the community, other agencies and the public. Facilitates work of volunteer to successfully help the City of Portland and Multnomah County create a livable community where older adults may live safely and independently in living situations of their choice.

Partial Examples of Work:

Facilitates goal setting and work plan development and coordinates and evaluates project activities for the Elders in Action Commission.

Recruits and staffs the Elders in Action Commission and facilitates ways to get citizens involved in projects and works with other advocacy groups.

Represents the agency and program in the community.

Bachelor's degree in gerontology or related field. Minimum three years experience in coordinating programs/volunteers in the area of aging.
