Postion: Housing Program Specialist I Entry Wage: $12.20 to $13.94/hr Full Time 2 positions available

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting families and individuals in overcoming barriers to attaining economic self-sufficiency, housing, employment and family well-being. Primary responsibility is to provide social work services including service access and coordination, advocacy, support and encouragement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide case management services including development of a strength-based client relationship, comprehensive needs and strengths assessment, client referral and advocacy, service coordination, development of outcome based support plans and follow-up. Maintain a working knowledge of program requirements for services designed to prevent or intervene with issues related to homelessness, juvenile delinquency, family dysfunction and school dropout. Develop and facilitate client skill development and skill building groups. Serve as a liaison to collaborating organizations including schools, social service, state agencies and community groups as assigned. Share responsibility for Dancing Tree Family Center coverage including crisis intervention and reception. Encourage and facilitate client participation and leadership in agency and community activities. Complete accurate, legible and timely documentation of services delivered in accordance with Impact NW’s management information system. Meet client service standards set forth by Program Director regarding quantity, type and quality of services to be delivered to clients. Provide leadership and facilitation in a variety of meeting settings.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of experience and training that would likely meet the following requirements: Bachelors degree or equivalent in social work or related field. Minimum of two years experience in human services, preferably working with homeless families and individuals. Ability to effectively work within a strength-based, integrated family support service delivery model. Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support Impact NW’s mission and goals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles and cultures. Possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs. Ability to deal with angry or distraught people.

PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and training in social work or related field. Bilingual and bicultural knowledge and skills.

THIS JOB ALSO REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting, extensive visual involvement. Ability to efficiently travel within Multnomah and surrounding counties. Requires some evening and/or weekend meetings.
