Bola Moyo is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that strives to help women and children, touched by poverty and HIV/AIDS in Malawi, believe in themselves and believe a better life is possible. Working in partnership with local leaders, Bola Moyo supports education, creative expression, and skills development to equip them to live inspired and secure lives. Our most recent projects include a youth centre called The House of Many Stories, where kids ages 8-18 go to learn, read, act, create, debate, discuss, and form bonds with older, wiser mentors – and ALiCE, our adult literacy and continuing education program that serves mostly women whose past efforts to receive or complete a formal basic education were, for various reasons, thwarted.

Bola Moyo is seeking an Executive Assistant to assist the Executive Director with various tasks, which may include: organization & data-entry, financial management, fundraising, and community relations. This position is ideal for an individual interested in truly grassroots work related to HIV/AIDS, gender issues, and children's rights in Africa. This individual will gain an in-depth understanding of development philosophies and their impact on communities in Malawi, Africa.

This position is part-time (10-15 hours per week).

Required Skills and Abilities:An ideal candidate will be: -Detail-oriented -Good at organizing, both office materials and personal time -Able to work under our Executive Director, as well as independently -Self-motivated and directed -Punctual -Highly responsible -Willing to learn -And have excellent written & verbal communication skills
Qualifications:Applicant should have (or be working toward) a Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: African Studies, Communications/Journalism, International Development/Relations, or Nonprofit Management. An ideal candidate would have experience in an African country in the recent past (may include work, volunteer, or travel) and/or the ability to prove dedication to Bola Moyo’s mission through past work or volunteer experience (either locally or overseas).
