Parent Engagement/Extended Day Coordinator at Vose Elementary School in Beaverton Program: Children, Youth and FamilyEntry Wage: $12.20 to $13.94/hrFull Time - 40 hours  

JOB SUMMARY: The EDAC/PEC works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include coordination of the extended day activities, Family night programs for families and youth and to oversee and coordinate efforts to involve and engage parents at Vose. Includes working with the school to outreach to parents, provide opportunities for involvement and develop ways to further engage parents in the school.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: ·        Assist the Site Coordinator in the oversight of extended day programs and supervision of volunteers and teachers onsite in the absence of the Site Coordinator.

·        Assist with student tracking and monitoring the building to ensure the safety and security of students.

·        Coordinates data collection, documentation, filing and database maintenance in accordance with agency’s management information systems and program needs.

·        Develop and assist with training volunteers and activities staff. Assist with the outreach and recruitment of community organizations and resources to support family health and social service needs as well as other program and family support needs.

·        Shares responsibility with Site Supervisor for crisis intervention and troubleshooting.

·        Assists the Site Supervisor in the development and distribution of public relations materials to ensure community involvement in family nights and other program.

·        Effectively communicates Vose and Impact Community Schools policy, mission, values and decisions to program staff, volunteers, collaborating organizations and the community.

·        Serves as the entry point for all volunteer inquiries, providing information and linkage to the appropriate Impact Community Schools and/or community program(s).

·        Develop and implement a comprehensive engagement plan aimed at increasing the number and diversity of parents involved at the school.

·        Build relationships with a diverse group of parents and community partners for the purpose of increasing leadership capacity of parents at Vose.

·        Lead small groups of parents in meetings intended to develop leadership capacity on the part of the participants.

·        Work with the Impact Community Schools team to develop, advertise and implement parent involvement activities as well as interviewing and screening volunteers and providing orientation and training.

·        Effectively interact with a diverse population of volunteers, staff, and community members.

·        Develop strategies to involve existing parents and volunteers in outreach and recruitment through sharing their experience within personal, business, and community networks.

·        Outreach through routine phone calls home to parents.

·        Develop and distribute outreach and information materials for the program.

·        Complete accurate, legible and timely documentation of services delivered in accordance with the agency’s management information system.

·        Meet program service standards set forth by the Family and Youth Program Director regarding quantity, type, and quality of services to be delivered to volunteers and clients.

·        Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS(Any combination of experience and training that would likely meet the following requirements):

·        Associate degree or equivalent.

·        Minimum of two years experience in volunteer management, community engagement, social work or related human service field; preference given to those with experience in promoting volunteerism or community activism in cultural minority populations.

·        Familiarity with Beaverton communities.

·        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the capability to engage a broad spectrum of community members.

·        Excellent coordination skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple and varied tasks.

·        Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

·        Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures.

·        Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

·        Willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Impact NW to alleviate poverty and build individual and community self-sufficiency.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ·        Bilingual in Spanish and English.
