position summary:

ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum, in Ashland, OR, is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, detail oriented person who enjoys working with children and families to serve as our Science Activities Coordinator.

Duties: Develop and implement hands-on science activities for the following on-site programs: Make it and Take-it, Birthday Parties, themed special event weekends, and cart demonstrations. Develop/implement hands-on science activities for off-site community festivals and events. Perform live science demonstrations for kids and families. Research and IMPLEMENT afterschool and summer science programs for elementary age students. Complete administrative duties needed to schedule and implement these programs.

This is a full-time, eleven month position through the OSSC/AmeriCorps program running from 8/24/2009 – 7/15/2010. Candidate must be able to complete all requirements as outlined by OSSC/AmeriCorp. Salary / Pay Rate:Through AmeriCorps service with the Oregon State Service Corps program, members will receive a living allowance, health insurance, and education award of $4,725 towards college or to pay off qualified student loans, upon completion of service year.
Required Skills and Abilities:ScienceWorks is looking for an individual with experience working with children; strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills; an interest in recruiting and supporting volunteers; a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings; and a bachelors degree.
