Janus Youth Programs has the following positions available. Janus is a nonprofit agency providing community-based services, including residential and shelter care, to youth referred by OYA and/or DHS, as well as homeless and street-dependent youth. We operate facilities in Oregon and in SW Washington. We are an agency that values diversity and values the contributions made by our staff in helping the youth we serve. Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) Family Support Worker needed to provide child development information and parenting support through home visits and parent/child activities.  The worker conducts a needs assessment for families and provides appropriate referrals to community partners and works with the family to develop an individual family support plan and a plan to help them meet their identified goals.  Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field OR equivalent education, experience and training.  Position requires experience in providing outreach and/or direct services to at-risk clients, preferably adolescents and a strong understanding of child and adolescent development.  Experience working with adolescents and/or teen parents or families is preferred, as is experience working with local social service providers and familiarity with local resources.  Beginning pay is $14.00/hour; excellent benefits.  Submit cover letter and resume to Heather Baeckel, c/o Insights Teen Parent Program, 711 SE Ankeny, Portland, OR97232 or e-mail to her at [email protected].  Position closes Friday, July 16, 2009 at noon. 

Direct Care Staff needed at Buckman House to provide client supervision and oversee day-to-day operation of a residential independent living treatment program for males, ages 17-24, who are re-entering the community from close custody juvenile correction institutions.  Bachelor's Degree in social work, juvenile justice, or related field or equivalent training and experience is required.  Two years' experience and clinical training working with adolescents is preferred.  Position is part-time, 20-24 hours per week.  Starting pay is $10/hour; pro-rated benefits.  Send resume and cover letter to John Weigel at [email protected] or mail to him c/o Janus Youth Programs, Inc., 707 NE Couch St., Portland, OR 97232.

Relief Workers

Relief Workers are needed to fill-in for regular staff who are on vacation, ill, attending trainings, or are otherwise unavailable. Currently there is specific need for relief workers at:

Garfield House, a shelter serving runaway youth. Priof experience working with adolescents in a residential or shelter setting is preferred; driving is required. Beginning pay is $9.50/hour.
