10 Volunteers Still Needed for Columbia Slough Regatta!

The Columbia Slough Watershed Council is still in need of 10 volunteers for  our 15th annual Regatta on the Columbia Slough on Sunday, July 26th, 2009 from 9am-1pm!  This annual celebration of the slough is the largest one-day paddle in Oregon. The Regatta offers views of riparian habitat that is home to over 175 species of birds, 25 species of fish, and a wide variety of mammals.  Enjoy hands-on activities, live music and visit with local environmental and water-based organizations.

We need some awesome volunteers to help us with parking, registration, canoe wrangling, and refreshments on the day of the event.  Volunteer shifts are generally 2-3 hours long, giving you plenty of time to get out on the Slough for your own Regatta paddle!  You will also receive a free event t-shirt!  If you do intent to get out on the slough for a paddle you can either bring your own boat or reserve one online for free at http://www.columbiaslough.org/calendar_detail.aspx?calendar_id=106.  Also, it is likely that we will be able to accommodate you for a paddle out on the slough on the day of the event because of no shows!

The Regatta will be held at Former St Johns Landfill Canoe Launch 9363 N Columbia Blvd. Portland, OR 97203.  This site is accessible by Trimet line 16.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Haley at 503-956-8558 or [email protected].  This is going to be an awesome event that wouldn’t be possible without our fabulous volunteers.  Hope to hear from you soon!
