Job Title: Volunteer Program Assistant Reports to: Volunteer Manager

Objective: The Volunteer Program Assistant will closely work with the Volunteer Manager to execute CAT’s volunteer programs in accordance with the organizations mission, policies, goals and objectives to help increase resources and promote organizational success.

Hours: It is expected that the Volunteer Program Assistant will perform duties in the shelter a minimum of 32-40 hrs per week depending on the season. Must be available some evenings and weekends and to drive to outreach locations as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities: • Provide administrative support for the volunteer program and Volunteer Manager • Process, screen, interview, and invite volunteers to orientation • Scheduling and placing for volunteer related jobs and events including day of • Maintain accurate information in Volgistics and Infinity database and volunteer files • Liaison between volunteers and staff • Daily walk through shelter to acknowledge daily volunteers • Support and schedule curricular service and other outside groups • Assist with adoption/outreach events • Transport materials, supplies, and cats to outreach locations and events • Schedule foster/volunteer orientations • Recruit, train, and retain Mentors • Other duties as necessary or assigned Education • High School education or equivalent • Some College preferred

Salary / Pay Rate:$9.50/hr
Required Skills and Abilities:Experience: • Previous experience working within and/or managing a volunteer program • Previous administrative experience • Prior animal handling or shelter experience • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve and multi-task • Customer Service experience desired Skills: • Fostering teamwork, managing multiple tasks, etc • Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, Volgistics etc) • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment • Organizational skills a must • Ability to take direction and instruction easily Key Competencies • Compassionate care for cats and other animals • Excellent communication skills both written and oral • Positive attitude and friendly demeanor • Manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently • Leadership: the ability to motivate others, coach & mentor, inspire quality performance, problem solve • Integrity • Customer service to clients, staff and volunteers and community contacts • Teamwork • Drive for results
