Janus Youth Programs has the following positions available. Janus is a nonprofit agency providing community-based services, including residential and shelter care, to youth referred by OYA and/or DHS, as well as homeless and street-dependent youth. We operate facilities in Oregon and in SW Washington. We are an agency that values diversity and values the contributions made by our staff in helping the youth we serve. Administrative Assistant needed part-time at Lents Education Center to provide administrative support which will include record and file maintenance, statistical data preparation and reports, data entry, billings, and other clerical support functions.  The position will also be responsible for picking up/transporting school lunches. High school diploma required; some higher-level education relevant to position is preferred.  Experience working within an educational setting and experience working within an office environment are preferred.  Driving is required.  Starting pay is $11.00/hour; pro-rated benefits. Temporary Outreach Specialist needed full-time to provide crisis intervention services, information and referral services, and to assist youth in eliminating/overcoming potential barriers to services.  The Outreach Specialist will engage and develop professional, trusting relationships with youth who traditionally do not access services and with youth who are entrenched in the street culture.  The position participates in street-based and drop-in center activities as well as participates in coordination of services and community presentations.  The position does involve making contact with homeless and street-dependent youth in a wide geographic area in the Clark County area.  The work requires employees to go where youth are residing (camping/squatting) which may involve going under bridges, interstate overpasses, forested areas, abandoned buildings, etc.  Work is accomplished in teams consisting of at least 2 individuals.  High school diploma or GED is required; bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred.  Experience with street youth and/or youth involved in sex work, substance abuse/use or with mental health issues, is required, as is experience on counseling/case managing youth that are reluctant to engage in services.  Professional work experience demonstrating ability to successfully build and maintain rapport and trust with youth is required.  Submit resume and cover letter to Mandy Kubisch at [email protected].  Pay is $12.00/hour and expected duration of temporary position is 4 to 5 months although there is no guarantee of employment throughout this entire period.

Relief Workers

Relief Workers are needed to fill-in for regular staff who are on vacation, ill, attending trainings, or are otherwise unavailable. Currently there is specific need for relief workers at:

Garfield House, a shelter serving runaway youth. Prior experience working with adolescents in a residential or shelter setting is preferred; driving is required. Beginning pay is $9.50/hour.
