Be a part of the National Plastic Quilt Project!

Help quilt together a message that favors alternatives to single-use plastic! Eighty percent of the plastic now swirling around in the ocean has traveled there from land via rivers and streams. The National Plastic Quilt Project is an important tool for bringing the issue back home so it can be solved!

The Project takes place August through October and includes an avoidance of single-use plastic, an accumulation of unavoidable plastic and a creation of at least one 12" square quilt patch from any parts of the plastic collected. Applications, available at www.LNPB.org, must be submitted by August 15, and squares will be due in late October. Groups, families, classrooms, businesses and other organizations are strongly encouraged to participate.

Participants will be invited to three different events focused on education, artistic inspiration and solution-oriented innovations--and in November, the Quilt will be on exhibit as part of an evening fundraiser for Create Plenty. Our goal is 100 more squares! Squares created earlier this year are on display at Gumbo Gallery and Gifts, 3636-B N Mississippi Ave or online.
