0.75 FTE bookkeeper with benefits - Saturday Academy

Saturday Academy – Bookkeeper/HR Assistant .75 FTE with full benefits

Start Date: 10/1/09 Hours per week: 25 to 30 hours (30 hours including grants management, 25 hours without grants management)

Wage: $14.00 to $18.25/hr, depending on experience

Benefits: sick time, 2 weeks’ vacation, employer-paid health, dental & disability insurance

Saturday Academy provides enrichment education, primarily in science, math, technology & engineering to students in grades 2-12. We are seeking a part-time, permanent staff person. The core of the position is bookkeeping, HR, and the financial side of grants management

Responsibilities

Payroll (Monthly, using ADP)

Accounts Receivable

Accounts Payable

Miscellaneous & Month-end: Prepare weekly bank deposits, process bank and credit card deposits / Process month-end financials including prepaid expenses and journal entries / Assist with annual budgeting process / Reconcile petty cash on a quarterly basis / Track scholarship income and expenses / Assist Director of Finance & Administration as required

Manage employment paperwork for new employees

Grants Management: Manage financial compliance on 3 grants / Adjust labor distributions to ensure that grants are “spent out”

Accountabilities: All work completed accurately / Efficient processing of bookkeeping / Accurate, easily retrieved records / Attention to detail in all projects / Willingness to assist with projects as needed / Excellent customer service to instructors

Qualifications (Required): 1 year of bookkeeping experience / Very strong Excel skills (what problems have you solved using Excel?) / Experience with accounting software (preferably MIP) / Attention to detail / Bachelor’s degree (any field), or current enrollment in a BA program in accounting / Ability to process paperwork efficiently and correctly / Ability to communicate with courtesy and tact / Self-motivation and the ability to work independently

Qualifications (Preferred): Experience working or volunteering in non-profits / Good writing skills / Experience with MIP accounting software / Experience with ADP payroll processing / Interest in the mission of Saturday Academy / Interest in “the big picture” of financial management
