The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Marketing Intern. This is an unpaid position which offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to gain experience and build their resume at one of Oregon's most recognized non-profit institutions. This position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Marketing Intern gains real-world marketing experience through work on projects in social media, advertising, public relations, and online marketing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Research science-related content as part of OMSI’s social media strategy. • Research additional social media outlets and update OMSI content per instruction. • Create and implement a research project to garner input and feedback from local high school and college students. • Update website content as needed. • Assist with the museum’s efforts in search engine optimization and key word placement. • Assist with marketing mailing projects. • Assist with organization of press materials and design projects. • Assist with other marketing tasks as assigned.

TIME COMMITMENT: 10-15 hours per week for 3-6 months.

Required Skills and Abilities:KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to stay focused and manage time effectively. • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for social media methods and strategies. • Extremely organized, detail oriented, and a team player. • Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently. • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Joomla, or Drupal a plus.
Qualifications:EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: OMSI’s Marketing Interns should be working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or be a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Education Required:High School or equiv.
