NWNW Open Interships

Greetings,

Fall 2009 Neighborhood Internships

Grant Program & Development Assistant, Applications Due Friday, October 23, 2009

The intern will provide support to the Neighborhood Small Grant Program and the Northwest Parks and Recreation Fund. Funds are distributed for both programs through volunteer committees convened and staffed by Neighbors West Northwest. The intern will also research grants to contribute to the NWNW’s capacity to serve community needs and will facilitate the completion of at least one application before the internship is complete.

Event Coordinator, Applications Due Friday, October 23, 2009

Throughout the 2009-10 school year, NWNW will be selecting three Event Coordinator interns. These interns will be responsible for working on one of three projects designed to raise funds for NWNW. The first is a photo contest where the photos will be used as a fundraising tool in future efforts and to recognize the diversity of the neighborhoods NWNW supports. The second is a coalition-wide bulky waste clean-up to promote reuse and recycling. The third is an annual event, a preview performance of a play at CoHo Theater. The intern will be responsible for coordinating an event from beginning to end with the support of NWNW staff.

Transportation & Land Use Intern, Applications Due Friday, October 23, 2009

Intern will support the efforts of neighborhood transportation and planning committee(s) to develop solutions to existing transportation issues appropriate to local land uses and zoning. Working with various stakeholders, the intern will research traffic calming devices including successful case studies and the pros and cons of various options. The intern will be responsible for working with staff and volunteers to support these groups as they work to develop local solutions. (Internship requires attendance at some evening meetings.)

Neighborhood Sustainability Intern, Applications Due Friday, October 23, 2009
