World Pulse Magazine: Online Volunteers needed for new program

Are you a nurturer by nature? Do you love to be in service to others? Does the thought of using web 2.0 to form meaningful relationships with women from Cambodia to Peru make your heart soar? If so, read on!

World Pulse Magazine, which covers global issues through the eyes of women, is holding a writing contest for the women of the world on the topic of “Land.” The winners will be published in World Pulse Magazine’s next print edition—“Earth”—which will showcase women leaders who are protecting and restoring the planet’s ecosystems.

The contest kicks off a new department in the magazine called “My Story” which highlights short, personal experiences of women speaking about pivotal moments in their lives in their own words, from all corners of the globe.

We are looking for Online Community Volunteers or Listeners to be active members of our online community newswire, PulseWire, and assist in welcoming new members, as well as evaluating the 250-word "My Story" submissions online. For a six-week period, you will be active, engaged members on PulseWire. The volunteers are connectors, supporters, teachers, huggers, facilitators, nurturers, activators, and most importantly, genuine community members and friends.

Specific tasks include: Friending new members Welcoming new members with encouraging and personal comments Reading and commenting on contest submissions Evaluating contest submissions

Type of Position Short-term, unpaid volunteer position 5-8 hours/week, running from October 21 - November 31.

Requirements The ideal candidate has a global soul, excellent intercultural communication skills, and a passion for World Pulse's unique editorial voice and mission.

Additionally, candidates should be excited by web 2.0 media, communications, solutions-oriented news, women's studies, grassroots activism, and citizen journalism. Ideally, candidate will have experience with social networking sites.
