Manager of Grant Reporting & Strategic Assistant to the Executive Director

Gateway to College National Network (GtCNN) is a fast-growing education nonprofit organization with partner programs in 15 states. The National Network is replicating the Gateway to College model with support from multiple foundations. Founded at Portland Community College, since 2003, the program has been replicated at 25 colleges in partnerships with over 100 school districts. This is a new position designed to share some of the workload of the Executive Director. The person in this position will be part of the management team of the organization.

Manager of Grant Reporting & Strategic Assistant to the Executive Director

Duties: • Serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director, assisting with a broad variety of management tasks in both a lead and supporting role • Assist the Executive Director and Finance Director with planning activities associated with staffing, facilities, budgeting, work flow and prioritization for meeting grant timelines • Establish timelines for grant commitments, work with GtCNN team members to ensure progress and monitor outcomes • Write annual reports for funders • Research and track funding opportunities and legislation • Work with Executive Director and management team to develop clear and compelling presentations for a variety of national audiences (funders, policymakers, education leaders) • Support Board members in their efforts to make connections on behalf of GtCNN and govern the organization • Prepare briefings and packets for high level meetings, working with the Communications Manager and Evaluation Director on key messages and performance indicators • Assist Executive Director with external inquiries and draft high-level correspondence • Represent GtCNN at professional conferences and outreach and fundraising events • Other duties as assigned

Accountabilities: • Manage projects to align with GtC vision and complete them on time and within budget • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Board members and funders • Work closely with the Executive Director to help manage emerging opportunities and direct information and resources to the management team, using a customer-service approach • Collaborate effectively with all members of the National Network team

Supervision & Reporting: • No supervision responsibility • Reports to the Executive Director

Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Public Administration, Organizational Communication, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred • Minimum of three years of relevant experience managing complex, time-sensitive projects • Flexibility to respond to immediate demands as needed, and willingness to schedule work around changing priorities affecting the Executive Director • Excellent oral and written communication in an environment requiring diplomacy and good judgment • Adept at moving comfortably from strategic to detail-oriented tasks • Good creative thinking, problem solving, planning, time-management and organization skills to balance and prioritize work • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and diverse team environment • Ability and willingness to travel

The starting salary range is $50,000 - $57,000, depending on experience. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits and vacation package.
