Fix-It Fairs need Volunteers- Great community event to learn money saving tips and health home resources

Now in its 23rd year, Fix-It Fair is a FREE event designed to help Portland residents save money, live healthier and connect to valuable resources. Fix-It Fair offers day-long exhibits, hourly how-to classes and free giveaways. Three fairs are held each winter season at various locations around the city. Our first fair is on November 21, Roosevelt High School, 6941 N Central Street, Portland.

Workshops will be offered in both Spanish and English at this event. A t-shirt and lunch will be provided.

Shifts are 8:00-11:00 AM, 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM or Full day.

Host Assistance: (Spanish/bilingual preferred.) Spanish Interpretation/ family escorts- As families come into the Fix-It Fair you will greet them and find out if they would like to have assistance in visiting the exhibitors. You will join the family and explain materials, and provide interpretation assistance for exhibitors that do not have Spanish-speaking staff. Additional assistance in directing participants to classes.

Age: High School- Adult

General Volunteer needs: (Spanish not required) Tasks may include: food distribution-help distribute food to participants, ensure food waste is composted; exhibitor help-help with setup and breakdown, collect boxes from exhibitors, deliver lunch; handicap helpers-escort disabled attendees through fair to workshops.

Age can be middle-school to adult.
