Homegrown DocFest on Friday December 11th at the Mission Theater

Homegrown DocFest

On Friday, Dec. 11 at 8:30 p.m. at the Mission Theater, all-new locally-made documentaries will hit the big screen. NW Documentary’s “Homegrown DocFest” will feature a dozen films produced during Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Documentary, Experimental, and Podcast workshops. Admission is $7 with proceeds to benefit NW Documentary's educational programs.

These quirky, enlightening and endearing short documentary films will introduce a host of colorful, local characters and topics.

This Homegrown DocFest will also feature performances by Circus Artemis, Portland’s new all-women circus, and Polaris Dance Theatre, a contemporary modern dance company. Both groups are featured in the documentaries and will be performing new works.

The evening will wrap up with filmmaker Q&As and the release of the 2010 Spring Catalog of NW Documentary workshops.

The NW Documentary workshops offer locals the training to create their very own short documentaries. Participants research, write, direct, shoot and edit their original creative audiovisual works. Winter term begins on Feb 8th--enrollment is currently open.

NW Documentary is a 501c3 non-profit that tells untold stories, teaches others to tell their stories, and brings community together in the sharing of significant non-fiction stories.
