Foster Parents Needed

Digest topic: Jobs & Internships

Information

organization:Boys & Girls Aid
position summary:

At any given moment there are approximately 7,000 kids in Oregon who have been displaced from their home, separated from their parents or guardians, and are currently living in foster care homes. At Boys & Girls Aid we do our part to provide quality foster care and therapeutic services, last year alone caring for over 500 vulnerable youth. As a private non-profit we have the ability to offer youth the care they need and deserve while also giving foster parents the time and attention they require. As a foster parent with our agency you will receive comprehensive pre-placement and on-going training, connection to a supportive community of foster families, 24/7 access to supportive staff, a generous monthly tax-free reimbursement and paid respite.

What do foster children need? Youth in our care told us they want foster parents who will “include them as they do their own children, take them out in the community, talk to them, let them know they are safe, listen and not always try to fix things, treat them with love and respect, be a good role model, and are non-judgmental”. Additionally, foster parents must be 21 years of age, be able to pass a criminal history report, have an Oregon drivers license and a safe driving record, a separate room for foster children, and able to demonstrate financial stability.

Boys & Girls Aid is changing the face of foster care, doing everything we can to give youth hope, courage and a belief in their future. Information sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd and January 4th at 6:30pm. Contact us today at 503-542-2323, [email protected] or visit our website www.boysandgirlsaid.org to learn more.
