position summary:

OPB seeks a development professional to lead key areas of OPB’s Membership and Marketing team, overseeing membership fundraising and customer relations. This exempt position is a full-time, regular status and receives a salary plus a benefits package.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities The Membership Director oversees the following programs: membership direct mail, monthly giving, mid-level giving, telemarketing, vehicle donations, employee giving programs, data management, customer service, member acknowledgement and Member Center operations. Eight employees are assigned to these programs. This person will continually assess the above programs with an eye toward creating efficiencies and constant improvements to meet OPB’s evolving needs. The Membership Director balances between the need to effectively and efficiently analyze data for use in direct response programs with leading and mentoring his/her team in this work.

Working Conditions Most activity takes place in an office environment, including extended periods sitting at a desk and using a computer, during regular work hours. Some work takes place in the evenings and weekends and at various event venues around the region.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications • Five years (full-time) progressively responsible experience in direct-response fundraising, including strategy, copy writing, data management, testing and managing member databases. Two of these years must also include supervisory, project and budget management experience. • Strong organization, time management, teamwork and prioritization skills. • Ability to lead, inspire and work constructively with colleagues in a creative, collaborative, multi-unit, multiple project environment. • Skill in change management, including creating efficiencies and implementing new and emerging technologies. • Demonstrated proficiency working with database, spreadsheet, word processing and other software programs. • Excellent communication and customer service skills. • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse personalities and varying levels of knowledge/experience. • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously (that this position and subordinate staff lead) and competing priorities. • Oriented toward innovation, problem solving, teamwork, systematic thinking, and the constant pursuit of improvement. • Must thrive in a fast-paced working environment, take initiative and balance multiple priorities with speed and accuracy. • Enthusiasm for the mission of OPB. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in fundraising for public radio and television. • College degree. • Team Approach database skills.
