position summary:

Administer Accounts Receivable system for Northwest Housing Alternatives, Inc., and related entities. Perform a variety of accounting and bookkeeping functions to ensure that timely, accurate, and complete accounting records are maintained. Perform office support functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE: Receive cash and checks, prepare deposits, and deliver to the bank.Enter deposits to MAS90.Post payments to customer accounts.Prepare monthly and quarterly grant and contract invoices. Maintain recurring revenue accruals and monitor receipts against accruals. Prepare AR sales journal postings including rents, pledges, grants and other receivables. Maintain Access database of group home repairs. Enter credit card transactions with awareness of data security laws. Perform month-end closing in AR. Maintain cash balances spreadsheet Track incoming EFT deposits through on-line banking. Prepare monthly reports for other departments. Pull information for special requests and prepare reports

INFORMATION TECH: Backup for Office Manager on hard drive backup rotation. Backup for Office Manager on end-user support.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other accounting and bookkeeping duties as assigned. Perform special projects as assigned. Assist with annual audits.

GENERAL OFFICE:Maintain files and other accounting documentation. Assist with preparation of Policies and Procedures Manual.

Salary / Pay Rate:$15-17 per hour / 30 hrs per week. Non-exempt position. Candiate will be required to pass a background check.
Required Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of Excel and Windows operating system. Accurate data entry by keyboard and 10-key. Ability to learn MAS90 computerized accounting system. Intermediate written and oral communication skills. Ability to assist others in fully utilizing Windows operating system and programs. Highest personal and professional integrity.
Qualifications:Experience of one year in accounts receivable. One year of accounting education or three years of experience. Education or experience in non-profit or property management accounting preferred. Experience with MAS90 accounting software preferred. Experience and comfort with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office preferred.
