Peninsula K-8: 12 hours/week, Monday-Thursday during 09-10 school year Grade VI; Non-exempt

Summary: Position teaches a range of academic and enrichment SUN School classes to students in grades 1-8th, Monday-Thursday, 2:15-5:15pm. Topics of classes during the winter SUN School term include drama, book club, and homework club for middle school students and math/science for younger students. Classes may vary for each SUN School term.

Essential Duties: • Plan and execute lesson plans for such class topics as drama, math and science, and book group • Develops alternative, age-appropriate academic activities or worksheets for the Homework Club class participants • Assists with student snack time and supper time and records daily attendance for all classes • Assist Peninsula SUN Coordinator in training and overseeing volunteer tutors in Homework Club • Manage student behavior in a way consistent with Peninsula SUN student expectations

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience working with children/youth. Or, Associate’s degree and three years of experience working with children/youth; • Strong classroom management skills and natural leadership qualities; • Positive and enthusiastic attitude; • Experience and ability to work with students in grades K-8th from diverse socio-economic or ethnic backgrounds; • Food Handler’s Permit required; • Must pass criminal background check as condition of employment.
