Gatekeeper Trainer volunteer- Multnomah County Aging and Disability Services

Are you concerned about vulnerable seniors and adults with disabilities in your community? Do you work in a job where you have contact with the public (i.e. a bank, store clerk, call center) Are you retired and looking for a volunteer opportunity that addresses a critical community need? Do you have approximately 5-10 hours/month available to volunteer? Do you enjoy doing community presentations and/or public speaking?

If you answered YES to any or all of the above questions then you may be a great candidate to volunteer with the Gatekeeper program! As a volunteer you will receive: program information, confidentiality training, a training manual and presentation outline. You will then be going out to Portland businesses or to your place of work or to churches, groups, neighborhood associations, etc to train people how to be a Gatekeeper—how to recognize signs that a vulnerable adult may need help and then how to refer that person to the Gatekeeper Program.

The next "Train the Trainer" session for new volunteers is scheduled for Wed June 9th from 1-4pm at 421 SW Oak Street, first floor Rogue Conference Room. MUST pre-register. Only 4 spaces left. Contact Lynn at [email protected] or 503-988-3620 x29463

Time Commitment: 4 hrs of training, confidentiality online training and test (takes about 1.5 hrs), observe Gatekeeper Coordinator doing a presentation, then doing a presentation with the coordinator observing you, commitment of doing at least 6 trainings in a 12 month period.
