position summary:

Hells Canyon Preservation Council seeks an enthusiastic and creative Development & Outreach Coordinator. Three-quarter to full-time at our La Grande, Oregon office with possible remote work options. The Outreach and Development Coordinator will be primarily responsible for: • growing our name recognition; • increasing general awareness of the lands we work to protect and restore; • building broader knowledge of why it’s important for us to do what we do; • maintaining and building HCPC’s membership; • fundraising from regular members; • running our major donor campaign; • establishing a corporate donor program; • making regular membership presentations; • managing a consistent online presence (e.g., web site, blog, Facebook, etc.); • working with program staff to develop effective messaging; • identifying and recruiting volunteers; • producing brochures and other outreach materials; • responding to member inquiries; • assisting in preparing an annual fundraising plan; • maintain a supply of HCPC print material; • organizing member events; and • since we are a small office, your share of general office support and administrative duties.  Note that this position will not be responsible for grant-writing.

Required Skills and Abilities:The ideal candidate will have: • a strong belief in our mission; • very strong writing and public-speaking skills; • excellent people skills; • outreach and fundraising experience; • a deep understanding and ability to execute a social media and networking campaign; • non-profit experience; • competence with word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphic design computer applications; • excellent organizational and time-management skills; and • flexibility with hours worked in order to accommodate highly fluctuating work loads and events outside of normal work hours.
